Bright Lights

Happy World Card Making Day everyone!

I didn't make a ton of cards today, but I did make some ;) I will show them at a later time though! I'm back with another layout! Did yet another layout using Echo Park's Happy Days. A couple weeks ago, when I purchased the Happy Days layout at my LSS, a nice lady who was cropping by the register, taps me on the shoulder and asks "excuse me, but what are you going to do with that?" And I responded, "Make cards, who knows? There are a lot of things you can do with it!" Truth is, I had no idea what I wanted to do with it, I just knew I wanted it because it was Echo Park! So, since I purchased it, I had to justify it by attempting to stretch my stash and finding all kinds of things to do with it! Thus, you have today's layout. OH p.s. based on one of PageMaps September sketches!

I started with a cool speckled background paper by Recollections that I got at Michaels. (I kinda wish I would have just used plain though because I ended up covering all the pretty dots with the big gray paper. The gray paper is from DCWV's new Ghosts and Goblins cardstock stack. I dragged my Tim Holtz Distress inking tool around the edges in the color Black Soot. I wanted to give the paper an almost dirty street feeling. All of the other embelishments, stickers, and papers are from Happy Days. The New York glitter skyline is from Recollections. :) Here are a couple detail shots.

I just love that glitter sticker! It's so pretty in person.
Just love love love Echo Park's alphabets! I cut the tickets from the border strips.
The 'dirt' i tried to create in the large mat.

Anyways, thanks for reading. I really appreciate your comments! :) tata for now! OH p.s. 5 days till I am in Disney World!!!

New Scrapbook Challenge!

Hello everyone, its really been awhile since I've had time to sit down and finish a project! Today I have a new layout to share. :) This layout was created for The Paper Variety blog's Birthday Celebration! This was for Challenge 2 which inspired us to use mostly our favorite paper crafting company in our project! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Die Cuts with a View! ;) In this layout, I used predominately papers from their new stack: Ghosts and Goblins!

For this layout, I tried my hand at making paper flowers for the first time with the help of my new Martha Stewart scoreboard! It was difficult at first (wrangling that paper into shape!) but I think I will get better with more practice! Here are some more detail shots, I'm getting better at photographing pages, but I still need a lot of practice so be gentle please ;)

Overall, I love the dimension that the paper flowers bring to my page. I added little 'spider mix' buttons that I purchased at Jo Ann's throughout the layout, including the center of my flowers. I used a couple of DCWV matstacks from the new Ghost and Goblins collection to mat my photos, I really wanted to play off of the fun glittery purple mask that Nicole is wearing in the large photo. :) All of the journaling tags are also from the Ghost and Goblins stack, as is the little witch hat which I cut out from a tag. :) The background paper is from the stack as well, and I sprayed it with Pearl and Brown Smooch Spritz. Letters are black Thickers, and 'not even' is written with Echo Park Happy Halloween Collection letter stickers. :)

Thanks for reading, that's all for now!

2 New Layouts! Kraft Paper Love!

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is staying dry out there during Hurricane Irene! D: It's gotten dark here really fast and the storm is beginning to pick up. I'm so thankful we still have power. I spent the whole day crafting! This time I have two new layouts to share. :) I'm new to uploading layouts, so I'm still practicing on my photography skills, be gentle :)

Made a page about my husband's love for video games! For this layout I used all papers from the DCWV Generation Tech stack; as well as a kraft cardstock background. I'm new to using kraft in my layouts, but I must say I love its neutral characteristics! I see infinate uses for it in my scrapbook. I was inspired to use it based on Two Peas in a Bucket's Design School lesson about Balance and Unity in a layout, as illustrated here.

My next layout contains two polaroids taken my last day of work at the Disney Store :( They closed our store down this day. Everyone is wearing Mickey Mouse Santa hats. The journaling is entitled "10 Reasons 342 Should Stay in Touch" This layout was based on Shimelle's sketch of the week which can be seen here!

The lighting is bad in the photo eek; I apologize because the only 'natural light' i had was a stormy hurricane window! This layout is also built on my new love, kraft cardstock! The watermark stamps of the circle motif are Inkadinkadoo 'Circles and Dots'. Mickey Mouse buttons are from Queen and Co. Patterned Mickey paper is also from Queen and Co. I also added little black dots from American Crafts Black Puffy Thickers. Black letters are from Echo Park's new Happy Days sticker sheet, I love these letters! (also used them on above layout) Silver letters are from my stash, and I'm also unsure of the manufacturer of the red star and yellow dot papers. Background yellow paper is from DCWV, I distressed it using 'Barn Door' and 'Vintage Photo' Tim Holtz Distress Inks. :)

Thats all for now! Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer! Thanks for reading along, I'm off to do more scrapping while the power holds out! :)

DCWV Layout Challenge!

Hello everyone, I'm here with my first layout to share! I recently entered this layout into DCVW's Stack-a-holic August Challenge~ I'm only a few days out from the end of the challenge entry period, I finished just in time! I found working with this sketch a bit challenging, because there were so many different patterned elements I wanted to include!
Anyways, here is the sketch:
To enter the challenge, you must create a layout using one of the DCVW Stacks. I chose the Summer Glitter Stack from 2009, I've always wanted to use the sparkler border strip on a layout!
This layout has tons of sparkle in person, and was really fun to make!

K & Company Americana Glitter Stickers
K & Company Americana Die-Cut Cardstock
K & Company Americana Glitter Paper Pack
We R Memory Keepers Layered Chipboard Self Adhesive Words
DCWV The Summer Glitter Stack (2009)

Welcome & Baby Shower Card :)

Hello :)

My name's Jessie, and welcome to my very first blog post. I have been thinking about starting a blog for awhile now, and have just recently worked up the courage to do so. I will be sharing my crafting creations here. I have been a scrapbooker for over 10 years, but just recently I have begun to dabble in cardmaking. The blog will also consist of all kinds of crafty inspirations and maybe a bit of everyday life too! :) Without further ado, I have my first project to share.

This is my very first card creation, based on Sketch 129 from Card Patterns. I chose very bold colors, and used all papers from my scrap bin. Which were mostly from DCWV, my fave brand! ;) This companion card will be given with a matching 20 page 12x12 album that I made as a gift for my sorority sister, who is expecting her first child, a boy, at the end of September. :) I will be sharing pictures of many (or all) of the layouts at a later day, after I present the gift to her~ don't want to spoil the surprise! ;)
